Надежда

I have been given the hope of return to my beloved Petropolis.

I have an interview for a Fulbright grant on the 21st. It's a 30 minute in Russian phone interview. I'm not a fan of talking on the phone in Russian (heck, I'm awkward enough trying to talk on the phone in English probably), and I'm a bit rusty, since I've been home for the last few weeks with no real practice speaking (unless you count talking to my cat or watching a couple of Russian films). I had my good friend Geoff (who was in Russia with me Spring semester and who traveled to Prague with me) throw an extra ruble in the Neva for me, to bring me the luck of return.

He's there right now doing research for his thesis. Thankfully, I'm also going to Wisconsin on Wednesday to see a few friends, including Maya, who was with me in Piter this summer, and Betsy, who was there for the semester. So I'll get some extra practice in with them. I'm nervous and excited. Hopefully posting about it won't jinx it... I won't find out if I got the grant till as late as May.
Wish me luck!

(my old neighborhood, Pionerskaya. I even miss bloc housing!)

In other news, I've recently put up almost all of my pictures from my travels and life this summer in Petersburg. Feel free to check out my flickr account.
