Despite this concern--"I was beginning to worry that you'd been kidnapped, sold into slavery, and sent to live in the ruins of some crumbling kolkhoz outside of Norilsk to herd reindeer"--I am still alive here in good old Petersburg. I finally got my plane tickets home, so only a couple of more weeks left here, which is sad. Between the Russian wedding (lots of exhausting translating and drinking and toasting), my research (which is going better), and a slew of friends (Ohara, Anna) and professors (Volodya, Svetlana, Ilia) and my ballet contact (Olga) who has taken me out to the ballet a number of times, I've been rather busy. I will try to post some sort of real update before I leave. Pictures will be on flickr someday. In other news, they turned off the hot water in my district, so lately I've been "showering" with a teacup. It's... great.
I am looking forward to hot showers, screens on windows, and my mom's vegetable garden.
Soon...
